Hi, I’m Andy - I’m a Mental health Practitioner & Occupational Therapist working part time across GP surgeries in the NHS. I have worked across eight different specialist Mental health settings in my NHS career.

In my private practice at ADHD life, I help adults with ADHD/AuDHD turn self-understanding into everyday change. My approach blends psychological therapies, ADHD-friendly skills coaching, and occupational therapy know-how—so insight becomes real life change that sticks. Sessions are online UK-wide, with Sheffield options by arrangement.

A neuro-affirming, parts-aware style (IFS aligned)

You’re not broken—you’re a whole person with different parts that learned to protect you: for example the driver part who never rests, the avoider part who freezes before an overwhelming task, the perfectionist part who wants it “just right.” Together we meet these parts with curiosity, help them soften, and let your steadier core self lead the way.

No prior experience of therapy needed from you; we keep the language simple and go at your pace.

In my

What I offer

  • Trauma-informed Therapy for ADHD
Deeper work on shame cycles, rejection sensitivity, burnout, and old hurts—often mapping parts, understanding triggers, and building safety in the body.

  • Transformative OT Coaching- Blended psychotherapy + Coaching
Some weeks are more inner work; other weeks are developing hands-on systems and strategies. Depth and traction in the same place.  Practical, ADHD-friendly systems for time, task flow, routines, and workplace demands—tiny, testable steps that fit your brain and life.

  • Access to work ADHD coaching-

Training, registrations & approaches

  • IFS UK Level 1 (accredited) — parts-aware, consent-led therapy.

  • EMDR (beginning training December 2025) — offering EMDR-informed work from December under supervision, with careful pacing and stabilisation.

  • Occupational TherapistHCPC-registered, RCOT member.

  • CBT & DBT-informed — I can draw on ‘CBT for ADHD’ fundamentals and DBT-style skills (distress tolerance, emotion regulation) where helpful.

  • Somatic & mindfulness-based supports for regulation.

Current NHS role: Mental Health Practitioner in GP surgeries within a Primary Care Mental Health Team, using CBT and DBT in evidence-based work.

What a session can feel like

  • We start with what’s most alive today.

  • We notice thoughts, body cues, emotions—and which part might be taking the wheel.

  • We slow down, offer that part relief. At this point we can do deeper work with this part, or alternatively choose one small outside skill developing step that supports the inside shift (e.g., a 5-minute inbox warm-up, a boundary script, a regulation micro-practice).

  • You may leave with clarity, not a long to-do list.

My Experience

Six+ years providing 1:1 therapy for adults with ADHD across NHS mental-health services and community settings—designing psychologically informed, real-life interventions that fit different nervous systems and lives.

Lived experience

I’m also An ADHDer- Many clients say it’s a relief to work with someone who “gets it” and won’t pathologize the ways their minds have learnt to cope over the years.
